Hellooo, ILS family!

Here is your weekly Sports Flash on recent events.

Cross Country: ILS boy’s runners were led by Junior Pier Roca and freshman Kennedy Garay who placed in the top 10. Pier came in 5th place with a time of 21:15 and Kennedy in 8th with a time of 21:30. The girl’s team was led by sophomore Mariam Osman placing 5th with a time of 23:27; setting a new PR. All the girls had a good race shaving off between 15 seconds and 3 minutes off their PR. With two races left before districts, the team is looking forward to these next two weeks for the opportunity to continue to set new personal records.

Volleyball: ILS Volleyball team had a successful DIG-PINK night defeating the Archbishop Carroll Bulldogs in 4 sets (23-25, 25-7, 25-19 & 25-14). The team was led by Helena Marquina who had 17 kills, 3 service aces, and 4 blocks. Freshman Gracie Blanco also had a big game with 11 kills, 1 ace, and 4 digs.

Football: The ILS football team continued to dominate on the field defeating Somerset Pembroke Pines 23-3. The team is now 7-0 heading into their much-needed bye week to get everyone healthy and ready for the home stretch of the season.

The offense was led by QB Aris Angelo with 130 yards and 2 touchdowns. Jude Servius had one of his best running back games on 15 carries for 140 yards and a HUGE touchdown late in the second half. The defense, who held another opponent to 6 points or less (6 out of the 7 games) was led by Jr. Everson Liberte who had 9 tackles and Eric Islami who had 7 tackles. Dairo Melendez continues to impress with 6 tackles (3 tackles for loss) and a sack for a safety in the game. Lavaris Stanford continued his success on the defensive side of the ball intercepting another pass giving him 6 on the year. Demitirius Johnson also intercepted a pass in the game.

ILS Athletics would like to thank everyone who helped fundraise for Breast Cancer at two PINK games last week. They hit the goal of $2,000, raising $2,200 with the campaign closing this week.
