This Sunday is Mother’s Day which means it’s time to spend some quality time with mom. But it also means that as their children, we are tasked with finding our moms an awesome gift.

But often, moms are hard to shop for, so what kind of gift is something they’d really enjoy amd get good use out of? Well look no further, because I’ve done some thinking and light research, and I believe these five gifts to be some of the best options for most every mother this year.

1. A scented candle
They lied when they said diamonds are a girl’s best friend. The real answer is obviously candles. There’s no reason not to love a candle, regardless of gender. But for Mother’s Day in particular, I feel like candles are one of the best gifts to get because they’re multifunctional and cute, and I feel like moms can appreciate that.

Whether it’s to add decoration to a home or to make a room smell better, you can’t go wrong with a candle. Bath and Body Works candles are famous for their great scents and cute presentation of the product, and Yankee Candle has a wide variety as well.

So if you decide on a candle for your mother, she’ll certainly enjoy it and all its practical and olfactory uses.

2. A Coffee Maker
Every parent can appreciate a good, functional household appliance. Even if your family already has a functioning coffee maker, it wouldn’t hurt to get a new one. Those things seem to break at the worst possible moment sometimes. Or maybe your mom could put it to use wherever she works.

Even buying a new actual coffee pot to fit in the maker would be good, especially if one breaks or you simply need a replacement part for any reason.

There are all kinds of coffee makers and pots. A lot of them are affordable and come in different materials. Bed Bath and Beyond, Target, and Crate and Barrel all have nice coffee makers for whatever needs your family has in terms of coffee. It’s sure to be a gift mom will appreciate!

3. Something to do together
There’s nothing that says quality time together more than an activity. And really, any activity will do if you do it together. Chalk, a crochet set, Lego sets, or maybe one of those big rocks they give you that you can “mine for gemstones” in will suffice as long as you’re both discovering it together.

You can buy something like this anywhere from Target to Barnes and Noble. It’s a good gift in my opinion, because it’s interactive and sure to spur a bonding moment this Mother’s Day. Get one you know your mom is interested in and would enjoy sharing with you!

4. A Personalized cup/mug
Ok, this one might seem played out, but I feel like it is a classic for a reason. Not only is it functional, but the fact that it’s been personalized shows that you put thought into selecting a design and style that you thought suited your mother. I think it is one of the sweetest gifts out there for Mother’s Day. If your mom doesn’t have a lot of cups and mugs at home already, this one is a sure fire hit.

5. Socks with your face on them

Yes, it’s exactly what it sounds like! This gift is fun and will make your mom laugh for sure, even if she doesn’t wear them a whole lot. Make these socks even more inclusive by adding your siblings, your other parent, and your pets too, and get the whole family in on the gift.

One really good website for this product is makefacesocks.com, which I’ll link here. They are currently having a 70% off sale for Mother’s Day, so if you’re interested, strike while the iron is hot!

As Mother’s Day rolls around, it’s important to select a gift that shows you care. Sometimes that can be hard with all of life’s hassles, or if your mom is the type to say, “but I have everything I want already!” when you ask her about gift possibilities.

Hopefully these suggestions helped you out in choosing a gift for your mom this year, and that she loves whatever you choose!
