There’s a nervous energy in the locker room. Everyone knows this game is different than the others.
This game, tonight, is the night where the seniors walk onto that field for the last time with their family and team. This is the game where all juniors sophomores and even freshman put their heart of hearts into the game for the seniors who have led them to this moment. The ILS Boys Varsity Soccer Team played St. Brendan Wednesday last week for their Senior Night. It was a difficult experience that culminated in a tie of 1-1.

“It was a tough game and we should have won but we still played our hearts out,” said senior Pier Roca who is a striker.

He also said Senior Night for him was incredibly rewarding because it was the culmination of four years of being on the team coming to an end.

A different perspective was given by Harry Prokopiou who is a freshman at ILS and plays both JV and Varsity. His older brother, Michail, is a senior on the team.

“It was nice. We had a challenging game, but I got to see my favorite seniors on the team shine out there on the field and give it their all,” said Prokopiou.

He plays right wing and is looking forward to the upcoming years on the soccer team.

Even though they did not win their match, the Boys’ Varsity Team left the field with their heads held high knowing they put up a strong match for their friends, family, and teammates.
