Do you ever wonder how people can be friends for so long?

Life gives you ups and downs and what matters is staying true to yourself and surrounding yourself with people who will bring you up. Finding those people is hard, but if you put yourself out there confidently, you will find those who share the same energy! I spoke to some ILS seniors who have stayed friends for over 10 years; Maia Sophia Maiquez, Bella Maria Blaikie, and Daniela Sofia Del Valle.

The trio first met in Pre-K 4 and instantly clicked. They went through elementary and middle school together, learning about each other and growing up in the same environment.

“We’ve been through many different challenges, but still stayed loyal to each other” -Maia Maiquez

When asking what’s the secret to having such a strong bond, Bella Blaikie, stated, “Putting differences aside and maintaining a close friendship regardless of changes.”

Changing is inevitable, but being aware that you need a support system is very important. The people who stay with you in times of confusion are really keepers.

As seniors, the trio is now off to their next steps in life. Maia is headed to the University of Central Florida, Daniela, Belmont University, and Bella to the University of Florida.

This is the first time they will be going to different schools, starting their lives anew. Of course, this is a bittersweet moment, because they are so excited that they got these amazing opportunities leading them to be successful as their hard work is rewarded.

“It’s hurts a lot leaving each other since we’ve never been apart, but we know that our bond is too strong to ever lose it”

— Daniela Del Valle

When you spend time with good influences, it becomes easier to stay focused on your goals. Your overall mindset will change and you’ll feel energized and motivated. Who we surround ourselves with shapes the way we think, behave, and feel on a daily basis. Positivity and happiness are contagious. You’re more likely to adopt empowering beliefs and see life as happening for you instead of to you when surrounded by a loving and encouraging network of friends.
