Sports Flash Beginning of May
The team has been practicing and conditioning for the 2023 highly anticipated and competitive season.

Greetings, ILS Family.
Softball: The Softball team finished in 2nd place at their conference. It was the first year at the conference and the team had an amazing year. The team battled and earned the number 1 overall seed in the tournament ,but ended up falling in the championship game to the tournament host Miami Country Day. They didn’t walk away without some great individual accolades. Our Athlete Scholar award went to Maria Romagnoli. Third Team all-conference awards went to Andrea Ochoa, and Emma Space. Second Team all-conference: Miriam Gonzalez and Evelyn Riley. First Team all-conference: Emilie Escobar, Jasmine Finley, Ashley Fonseca, and Daysi Gonzalez. Conference Player of the Year honors went to Emilie Escobar
They look to continue their season success in this week’s district tournament.
Baseball: The Varsity Royal Lion Baseball team finished off its great regular season with two impressive wins. They first defeated South Miami 8-4 on Senior Night at St. Thomas University. After trailing 0-2 to start the game, the team rallied and defeated a tough Cobra team. Royals also took down Somerset South Homestead in the last regular season game of the season. They won 20-0 and finished the year with a record of 11-8.
Beach: The Beach Volleyball season officially came to an end this week. The team had a long tough season, but walked away with some great experiences, memories, and learned much for the next season. We want to thank the team especially the seniors and coaches for all their hard work and dedication to the program.
Sports Schedule:
Tuesday, May 2, 2023: Softball team traveled to Monsignor Pace for the first round of their district tournament vs Miami Springs.
Baseball traveled to Westminster Christian.
Boys’ Volleyball semifinal district match at Miami High.
Wednesday, May 3, 2023: Track and Field Regional Meet at Calvary Christian.
Thursday, May 4, 2023: Boys VB District Championship game if they win Tuesday.
Softball District Championship game if they win Tuesday.
Baseball District Championship if they win Tuesday.
