Part of getting ready for the summer of 2023 is making sure your playlist is updated.

What Will Music Look Like this Summer?

SUMMER MUSIC
It’s almost summer! Almost time for long days of sun and travel, free time, and relaxation!I know the first thing I do to make it feel like summer is make a playlist. I always try to mix it up for every season, but this year should we bring in the new or the old?

IT’S GOOD FOR YOU
Listening to certain types of music really changes your mood for the better and actually helps brain health drastically. It provides a total brain workout and reduces anxiety, blood pressure, and pain, as well as sleep quality, and even memory. Music activates all brain regions and networks. It releases dopamine and overall lights up our brains.

There are so many genres of music it’s hard to find the perfect vibe that fits you which is why it’s important to immerse yourself in all of them.

MY RECOMMENDATION
The way that I find new music is asking for recommendations from people that I admire. It has a lasting impact on our generation because it’s a way to truly express ourselves and connect with others. It can be an escape from the stresses of life to just relax your mind and listen to your favorite tune.

I also go into finding the less mainstream artists and going from there.

Spotify is an amazing tool to find music because after you listen and have the app for a period of time, Spotify makes playlists for you that they’d think you like, mixing different genres and vibes. You will never know if you like them unless you try.

My recommendation for a summer playlist has a wide variety of genres ranging from Drake to Bob Marley, Micheal Jackson to Tame Impala, and more.

RESEARCH YOUR ARTISTS

This summer, I think my song would be, “Could You be Loved” by the amazing Bob Marley.

His music became closely associated with the black political independence movement that was spreading throughout a number of African and South American nations. He was the first popular musician from a developing nation to reach the global stage. He was an inspiration then and is still an inspiration now.

Knowing about your favorite artist connects you more to the music and makes you, you.
