Swifties rejoice.
On November 1, 2022, Taylor Swift announced that she would return on tour starting in the spring 2023. The Eras tour has become one of the highest-grossing world tours over the past few months. Even if you only know one song of hers, you would still want a chance to see Taylor Swift live. For some, Taylor Swift didn’t go to the city where they live, so they would make vacation plans that coincide with that show of their choice. With resale value tickets starting at $700 a ticket, these concertgoers spent an average of $1,300 per show on expenses like tickets, outfits, travel, and food. Now, how could that help the economy?
According to the city’s tourism office, the spending related to Taylor Swifts | The Eras Tour reached an estimated $48 million in Cincinnati alone.
As people paid thousands of dollars on not only tickets but also outfits, merchandise, dining, and travel, this boosted local economies by hundreds of millions in one weekend.
If you had a ticket or didn’t have access, you would still find a way to be in the same vicinity to listen to the music. Nearly 40,000 people attended a Cincinnati-based event called Taygate, where more than 2,000 got free hair braiding and glitter makeup for the concert. The crowds benefited from a nearby waffle restaurant, Taste of Belgium, where fans could sip on the Lavender Haze cocktails, named after Taylor Swift’s song on the famous album Midnights. The restaurant said it had its best two days of sales since that location opened seven years ago.
Not only are people excited to see Taylor Swift, but they are also very eager to experience the special guests on tour with Swift, like Paramore, Gracie Abrams, Haim, Mona, Girl in Red, Phoebe Bridgers, Gayle, Owen, Beabadoobee, and Sabrina Carpenter.
Fans should stay tuned as Taylor Swift’s announcing more of her re-recording albums on tour has sparked many to want to attend even more Taylor Swift concerts.
