Matthew Perry—recently deceased at 54, the Canadian-American actor known for his role as Chandler Bing in the show “Friends,” presented his character as “clean cut” which was far from Perry’s reality as in real life he dealt with a major drug addiction.
Although there are theories that Matthew’s death was related to drowning because he was found in a hot tub, there is as yet no definite answer. The toxicology report has yet to be determined as a standard report can take up to four to six weeks.
“You know I’m pretty sure Matthew Perry died of a heart problem,” recent alumni Lia Suarez stated.
According to the AAC (American Addiction Centers), drugs can have lasting effects on the cardiovascular system often leading to:
– Hypertension (high blood pressure)
– Coronary heart disease
– Peripheral artery disease
– Cardiomyopathy
– Endocarditis
– Arrhythmias
– Stroke
– and Heart Attack.
As long as that list may seem, there are many side effects on other organs associated with habitual drug use
“He must have been under the influence of some drug,” junior Etienne Ferrell speculated.
In an interview from 2022, Perry said he had been clean for 18 months. Of course, there is plenty of grey area between his time of death, but the theory that he may have been under the influence of a drug has led to ongoing speculation even though preliminary reports indicate his death was due to cardiac arrest and no substances were found at the scene.
