Hello, Royals!
Golf: This week the Lady Royals opened their season with a tough matchup vs Lourdes and Carrollton. Even though they didn’t win, they laid the foundation for a great season.
The boys team won their first match of the season with a one stroke victory over Don Soffer. They were led by seniors Hector Pires and Jeremy Agresti who shot 44 and 49 respectively. The girls were led by sophomore Sophia Estrada who shot a 48.
They take on St Brendan next week at Trump Doral.
Swimming: The Royal Swimming team was in action this week at Gulliver Prep with a double dual meet including Riviera Prep. The team did well for their first meet of the year. Stand-out performers were Joaquin Espinal who placed first in the 200 free and 100 back. Mathias Alvarado also palced first in the 50 free and 100 free. Emma Larralde placed second in the 200 free.
Volleyball: Girls Varsity Volleyball traveled to Tampa, Florida for the Florida Gem High School Volleyball tournament. This tournament shows cases 64 varsity teams across 4 different divisions. ILS pool play consisted of 3 schools, Labelle High School, Manatee High School and Palatka High School. The Lady Royals sweep the pool play losing only the first set vs Labelle then they didn’t lose another set the rest of the tournament. They defeated Labelle HS (23-25, 25-15,15-5). Then they took down Manatee HS (25-12, 25-13) and Palatka HS (25-13, 25-15). After winning their Pool they got the #1 seed in their bracket. ILS continued to cruise taking down Bartow HS (25-14, 25-22). They advanced to the Championship game against Indian Rocks Christian. The won the match 25-20, 25-23 and took home the Gold in the Club Division.
Some outstanding performers in the tournament were Helen Montilla who had 7 blocks, 4 Assists, 33 kills, 3 Aces, and 2 Digs. Grace Blanco added 22 Digs, 18 Kills, 6 Aces, 1 Block while Juliana Hawley had 17 Digs, 20 Kills, 4 Aces, and 1 Assist. Sofia Dean also had a great tournament with 96 Assists, 20 Digs and 4 Aces.

Football: The Football team continued their hot start to the season taking down Belen Jesuit 34-0! Offense started off slow going into half time only up 7-0 despite being able to move the ball with ease against the Wolverines. After halftime, the team turned the heat up on offense scoring 27 second half points. The offense was led by Taylor Trauth who had over 150 yards and 3 touchdowns. Santiago Robles had a great rushing night going over the 100-yard mark and scoring a touchdown. Torrence Jones also had a nice touchdown run in the game.

The defense impressed once again not allowing Belen to score. This is the defense’s 3rdshutout counting the preseason game. Defense standouts this game were Jayden Noel and Henry Jean-Simeon who each had 8 tackles in the game. Keondre Potton had 7 tackles while Rashad Lee adding 6 tackles.
This past Tuesday, the Volleyball team hosted Carrollton 3:30/5PM for JV/Varsity matches.
Swimming traveled to Ransom for their meet. Warm up 3:30, start time 4:30PM.
Today, the Football team travels to Traz Powell for their District match up against Booker T. Washington.
Volleyball travels to SLAM for a 3:30/5PM JV/Varsity match.
Golf team travels to Trump Doral for a 3:30 match vs St. Brendan.
