Volleyball: The girls Volleyball team continues to roll! The team picked up another 2 wins this week. The first defeated Carrollton in 5 sets (22-25, 25-15, 25-20, 20-25, & 15-12). Top performers in the match. Helenn Montilla had 2 aces, 12 kills and 8 blocks. Mia Groom had 6 kills, and 8 blocks and Krystal Inhoof had 2 blocks and 2 kills
The JV team also picked up the win against Carrollton in 3 sets (25-20, 14-25 &15-10)
Top performers in the match were Emma Beltran with 5 aces, 1 kill and 2 digs. Francesca Yunis had 1 ace, 5 kills, 2 digs, Elena Figueroa with 23 digs, 2 assists and Carlota Haliwa 4 aces and 2 digs.
The team also took down District opponent SLAM Academy in straight sets (25-14, 25-16 & 25-22). Helenn had another great game with 8 Kills. Sara Moreno had 5 kills, and Grace Blanco and Juliana Hawley each had 4 kills. Paolo Marin added 3 serving aces in the match along with 8 digs.
The team is now 10-2 and look to add to their great start.
Golf: This week the Royals took on St Brendan and came away with the 2nd straight win of the season with a combined team score of 188. Senior Hector Pires and Freshman Conor Heilemann led the way shooting 42 and 44.
Swimming: The ILS swim team was in action against Ransom and True North swim meet. The girls really excelled this meet. In the 200-medley relay and free relay girls got 2ndin both! Some other top individual performances came from Rachel Larralde in the 200 IM got 2nd place. Kristen Bachmann in the 50 free got 1st place. Emma Larralde in the 100-fly 2nd place. The Girls beat True North in terms of points coming in second for the meet.
The boys had some great individual performances also. Joaquín Espinal excelled in the 200 IM securing 1st place. Mathias Alvarado also had a great day getting 1st in the 50 free
100 free.
Cross Country: The Cross-Country team competed at the King of the Hill Invitational this past Friday. Here are some of the top performers from the races. The JV Girls were led by junior Sienna Daughton-Weill with a time of 32:14. The JV Boys were led by freshman Benjamin Pieri with a time of 21:39. The Varsity girls were led by senior captain Ariana Armas with a time of 24:15.
Unfortunately, the Varsity boys were unable to compete due to inclement weather.
The team will next compete at the Spanish River Invitational this upcoming Friday at Boca Raton
Football: The Royal Lion football team lost its first game of the season to Booker T Washington 20-35. The team started off the first half hot and went into half time with the lead 20-14. The lead could have been much bigger, but the officials called back a Punt return and Interception for a touchdown. In the 2nd half the team gave up 21 unanswered to drop the game. The offense went 9/18 with 233 yards passing, 3 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. Santiago Robles rushed the ball 16 times for 78 yards. Brandon Kinsey, Terrance Smith Jr. and Tyrone Williams each scores a touchdown in the game.
The team has its much-needed bye week coming up. They are back in action next week at the home in the Jungle vs Ransom for some Thursday night football (9/26).

Golf team goes up against Divine Savior
Swim team went up against Doral Academy for a head-to-head meet at Miami Dade Kendall Campus. Times have been moved up to 12:30PM start time. Team will be dismissed during first lunch.
Thursday, September 19, 2024: Girls Volleyball Hosts Palmer Trinity for a 3:30/5PM match.
Friday, September 20, 2024: XC team travels to Boca Raton for the Spanish River invitational. Dismissal after 2ndlunch.
Saturday, September 21, 2024: Swim team competes at the Ransom Invitational for an all-day event.
