Hello, ILS. Here is your weekly Sports Flash!
 
Cross Country: The Cross-Country team participated at the Spanish River Invitational this past Friday evening. Several members of the varsity team either finished with personal or season best times.
The boys, led by junior Daniel Brito (18:20, 31st individually), finished 15th overall as a team. The boys were also helped with a strong performance from sophomore Nicolas Cabezon (19:12 61st individually).
The girls finished 18th as a team and were led by junior Andrea Echeverria and senior Ariana Armas (23:04 54th individually, 23:22 60th individually).
The team will be back in action this Saturday at the South Fork Bull Dog Invite in Stuart, FL.
Golf: The golf team continues to roll. The boys won their 3rd consecutive match of the season with a win vs Divine Savior. They were led by senior Jeremy Agresti shooting a team low of 45. Next week they take on Don Soffer at Crandon.
Volleyball: The girls Varsity volleyball team picked up another win against Downtown Doral (25-18, 254, 25-23). Helenn Montilla had another outstanding game with 10 kills, Sara Moreno added 4 kills in the match. Grace Blanco, Allegra Morales, and Sara each had 2 serving aces while Helenn had 1. This win brought the girls winning streak to an impressive 8 in a row!!
The winning streak did fall to a tough team in Palmer Trinity. The game went back and forth, and each set was decided by a couple points. They’re back in action in the Lion’s den on Monday to bounce back.
Swimming: Swimming team was in action twice this week. First, they went up to Miami Dade Kendall campus for a swimming meet vs Doral.
Girl’s top performers: 200 medley relay – 2nd place (Kristen Bachmann, Rachel Larralde, Emma Larralde, Lavinia Iacobellis)
200 free: Emma Larralde 1st place & Rachel Larralde 2nd place – 100 free: Emma Larralde 1st place
 
200 free relay: 2nd place (Kristen Bachmann, Emma Larralde, Rachel Larralde, Lucrezia Iacobellis)
Boy’s top performers: 200 IM – Joaquin Espinal 1st
50 & 100 free:: Klaus Bachmann 2nd100 back: Joaquin Espinal 1st
They were also in the Ransom Invitational that hosted multiple schools. The boys and girl’s top performers are below.
Girls: 200 medley relay (3rd place) – (Kristen Bachmann, Rachel Larralde, Valentina Olivia, Sabina Morelli)
50 free: Valentina Oliva 3rd place 100 free: Rachel Larralde 1st place
200 free relay:  3rd place – Rachel Larralde, Kristen Bachmann, Valentina Oliva, Sabina Morelli
100 breast: Rachel Larralde 2nd place
Boys: 50 free -Mathias Alvarado 2nd place – 100 free: Mathias Alvarado 1st place
Upcoming Sports Schedule:
Girls Volleyball Hosted Don Soffer for a 3:30/5PM match.
 
Golf Team hosted  Don Soffer for a match at Crandon Park.
Football team hosted District Opponent Ransom Everglades for a 6PM kick off.
Golf team goes up against Palmer Trinity for a match at Palmetto Golf Course.
Swim team travels to Westminster Christian for a 2PM warm up and 3PM start.
Friday, September 27, 2024: Girls Volleyball participating in the Florida Christian tournament that will play into Saturday.
 
Saturday September 28, 2024: Cross Country team travels to South Fork High school in Stuart, Fl.
Girls VB FCS tournament continues.
