Hello, Royals!
Football: The Royal Football teams magical season came to an end this past Friday. They lost to one of the top programs in the state in Booker T. Washington. While the regional final didn’t go their way, it didn’t diminish the historical season they had winning 2 playoff games and ending the season with an 11-2 record. We want to thank the players, coaches and all the fans that supported the team during their run.
This officially concludes the end to the Fall Sports season for us. Thank you to all the coaches and athletes that competed and represented ILS so well!
Cheerleading: Our JV & Varsity Cheerleading teams kicked off their competition season at the Americas Cup Championship at West Broward High School last week.
Our JV team had a very strong performance in a very competitive division and placed 2nd place in their division. (Junior Varsity – Non Tumbling)
Varsity also had a strong performance with just one mistake! They placed FIRST in their perspective division. (Medium Non Tumbling)
Both teams will continue to train as they gear up to compete at the Bobcat Battle and the UCA Florida Regional in hopes to receive a bid to attend the National Cheerleading Championship in February!
A strong start for the cheerleading program and a great weekend to be a Royal Lion!
Girls’ Soccer: Our Girls soccer program went 1-1 the week we left on break. They dropped a tough game to a good MAST Academy team 1-2. They did bounce back quickly picking up a big win against Carrollton 1-0. Girls have a current record of 5-3 to start the season.
Boys’ Soccer: The Boys program continues their hot start with a tie and win before heading into the break. They tied with Doral Academy 1-1 in a tough match at home. They did pick up a great win against Christopher Columbus 2-0 a couple days later. The boy’s record is 4-0-2 to start the year. They are a top seed in the Silver South Florida Champions League bracket which has some of the top programs in the tri-county area. That tournament concludes this week.
Girls’ Basketball: The Lady Royal Basketball team is also off to a great start! They won another 2 games before we left on break in the Lion’s Den. First, they defeated Terra Environmental 40-34. They also took down Coral Gables 56-33 as well. Lady Royals are now 3-0 to start the year and look to add to that this week.
Boys’ Basketball: Boys Basketball team looks to get back on track this week after dropping a couple games before we left on break. The team is currently 1-2 and excited to get back and competing on the hardwood.
