The highly anticipated league championships game of the NFL is coming this Sunday, February 9th. This year the Kansas City Chiefs will face off the Philadelphia Eagles in a game not only to win but to mark their place in history. Last year’s champions, the Chiefs, will be aiming to secure yet another victory led by their star quarterback Patrick Mahomes, while the Eagles will be set on taking home their second Super Bowl win.
The winning team is awarded not only bragging rights but the esteemed Vince Lombardi trophy, which was named after the Packers’ coach who won the first two Super Bowls.
“I really enjoy watching the Super Bowl every year. It’s an entertaining experience. This year I’m going to watch it with some of my friends and family,” shared sophomore Vittorio Buttice.
For those who may not be as captivated by the sports aspect of the Super Bowl, there’s always the halftime show. Last year the halftime performance was headlined by the musical artist Usher who put on an amazing performance that captured the attention of millions. This year rapper Kendrick Lamar will put on an unforgettable show as he will be joined by SZA. Together they will combine their musical talents and create an extraordinary performance.
“My family has never been too excited about the Super Bowl, but we definitely watch it especially for the halftime show. Last year I liked the performance, but this year I’m really excited to see the show that Kendrick Lamar and SZA put on,” shared sophomore Camila Echeverri.
Whether you’re watching at home with family or out with friends, the Super Bowl will be an exhilarating game for all sports fans. The Kansas City Chiefs are favored to win this year, still fans will have to wait and see.
“From what I’ve seen online and my own predictions, I think the Kansas Chiefs are going to take home the win this year,” shared sophomore Ashley Gomez when asked whom she predicts for the win.
