Since the 9/11 terrorist attacks, airports and airlines have made significant improvements toward creating a safer flying experience. Even though they have made improvements ,there are still flaws within their designs. Currently though, flying is the safest it has ever been.

Security has been greatly increased making it a lot harder for any terrorist to board a flight with their intended weapon with the x-ray machines and pat downs that more airports have all over the world.
Another safety improvement is that the cabin crew have been trained in medical aid, evacuation, and fire response.
Flight data is also being tracked letting airlines know the current position if any major incident were to occur. As well as multiple systems in play to help the plane, all working in tandem to not get in any collision such as the autopilot, weather radar, Terrain Awareness and Warning, and Traffic Collision Avoidance System.
Although there have been collisions recently, it’s not a worry. There have only been five major crashes where people died in 2025, with four fifths being private planes and the other one being a commercial plane.
In total there have been 87 casualties so far with a vast majority of them being from the commercial plane.
What happened with the plane is when the plane was landing in Washington, D.C., it collided with an Army Black Hawk helicopter; 67 people lost their lives because of that.
Thankfully, there have not been any recent crashes in Miami only some flights getting cancelled due to the other crashes.
