Although they lost to True North, they swept MAST 5-0 while celebrating the 8 seniors of the team. Standout performances came from Helenn Montilla, Grace Blanco, Sunshine Garcia, Paola Marin, Riannen Pouza, Lara Potente, and Catarina Sanchez. The team now has a record of 8-3.Baseball: The Varsity Baseball team continued their strong play winning all 3 of their games this past week including Tuesday’s Senior Night victory over Miami Senior HS by a final score of 7-1. It dropped two close games against some good opponents in True North and Ronald Reagan. They did pick up a 3-1-win heading into the weekend vs American Heritage Plantation. Their record is 9-4 with some big matchups coming this week.Softball: Lady Royals went 1-1 this week. They won their senior night match-up against Ransom Everglades 24-8. Top performers in the win were Maria Romagnili who had 3 RBI’s along with Emma Arce. Emma led the team with 4 RBI’s. Congrats to the senior Lady Royals for winning their game.Track: Fr. Luis Ripoll S.J. Relays RecapThe ILS Track & Field team wrapped up their regular season with an outstanding performance at the Fr. Luis Ripoll S.J. Relays on April 5, leaving a mark with personal bests, school records, and dominant victories across the board.Nahia Riveros (Senior) broke the school record in the 400m Hurdles, showcasing incredible endurance and technique. Kennedy Garay (Senior) smashed the school record in the 110m Hurdles, finishing his regular season with a standout performance.Both athletes capped off their senior regular season in unforgettable fashion! It all kicked off on Wednesday against district and multi-state champs Gulliver away. The team showed up and played some competitive tennis, however, it was not to be this time, like many other visits to Gulliver. The shining light though was a great win by Gabi Punzo against the Gulliver number 2, with a solid 8-2 victory. Overall, the boys took a 7-0 loss and the girls 6-1, and we will move on from that like it didn’t happen.Thursday, we played host to Ransom as they celebrated senior night… at our home game… However, their night wasn’t to end in celebration as both the boys and girls team managed to get the wins 5-2 on the boy’s side, and 4-3 on the girls side. Special mention goes to Juan Colimodio who had an incredible 9-8 win in the tie-break to give the boys the 4th win of the match. On the girls side, Juliana Hawley, Agatha Morrison and Samatha Spetko all took wins in their singles which allowed the girls doubles 2 of Juliana and Agatha to clinch the team victory 6-2 in their match.Friday the team took the long, yet entertaining, trip down to Key West for the reverse fixture. Looking to get another win, a stop at the Stuffed Pig for breakfast made sure everyone was fueled up for the match. B Division had Isabella Henrich (’26) and David Mateo Coates (’27) sharing skippering duties with Crew Nathalie Caudron (25’). This team won their division with 16 points over the five races. The combined score resulted in fifth place for the regatta – a very good finish.The Junior Varsity team of Leonardo Terzani (’27) skippering A with Crew Diego de Teran (’28), and Marina Wardlaw (’27) sharing skippering duties in B division with Gabi Mascarenhas (’28). Crews Alejandro Escudero (27), and Arturo de la Cartaya (27) helped the JV team finish third overall with a combined score of 33 points for the 10 races.ILS Sailing competed on Tampa Bay for the fourth ranking division regatta of the Season. The regatta was hosted by H. B. Plant School and Davis Island Yacht Cluband was raced in 420 sailboats – a two-person sailboat requiring skipper and crew.
The event saw a diminishing northerly light wind in the morning causing a delay in racing – shifting to a westerly from 6-11 knots with five races sailed in each division for a total of 10. Points are awarded for finishing position towardsqualifying for a chance to race at the National Championships in the Spring.
