November 20th, 2026 is when The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping is set to release. This will be latest film in the trilogy and the second movie in the series that is not about Katniss Everdeen.
The movie revolves around Haymitch Abernathy, the mentor from District 12 for Katniss and Peeta Mellark and how he won the 50th Hunger Games
Haymitch is one of four winners from District 12, the others being Katniss, Peeta, and Lucy Gray Baird.
What fans may infer is that the film will be about what the character of Haymitch said in the past movies.
The movie may be tamer compared to the books due to some gruesome things mentioned in the popular literary series.
For the uninitiated, the Hunger Games themselves are a yearly event where 24 teenagers are forced to compete in a controlled arena.
One boy and one girl from each of the 12 districts of Panem are chosen through a lottery called the Reaping.
These tributes are taken to the Capitol, where they train for the games, are interviewed, and put on display for entertainment and building a connection with the Capital citizens.
The arena is a dangerous, man-made environment filled with aa treacherous landscape and mutated creatures.
The Capitol’s Gamemakers control the arena and change the conditions to keep the audience entertained.
“It reminds me of like the Nazi’s following orders and were doing horrible things without a second a thought,” sophomore Nicholas De Izaguirre said.
Tributes have to survive the environment and potentially other Tributes. The Capital does not force tributes to kill each other, and the game ends when only one tribute is alive who is then declared the winner.
There has only been one instance where they were two winners, but that was due to the fact they both threatened to leave the games without a winner.
The Games are used by the Capitol to keep the districts afraid and controlled as punishment for a past rebellion many engaged in towards the Capital.
