The Minecraft movie came out April 4th, highly anticipated by many fans of the game and series featuring multiple references from Minecraft YouTubers such as Mumbo Jumbo, LDshadowlady, DanTDM, and TechnoBlade.
“It was really cool seeing all the people I watched growing up in the movie even if they didn’t really do anything.Sophomore Michael Tirador said
The Minecraft movie stars Jack Black, Jason Momoa, Emma Myers, Jennifer Coolidge, Danielle Brooks, and Sebastian Hansen.
The movie revolves around Jack Black’s “Steve” who was a normal human who lived in some town than he went to the mines and found a portal to the Minecraft Overworld. After that he fell in love with the place and made many builds. Later he found a Nether (a hellish dimension in the game Minecraft) portal and went through it. He got captured and these creatures called Piglins stole the Orb of Dominance which is the thing that activates the initial portal in between the normal world and the overworld. Luckily, he freed his dog who took the Orb to the real world.
The movie than shifts to Garret “The Garbage Man” Garrison(Jason Momoa) who’s struggling financially, eventually buying a storage lot at an auction looking to sell items where he finds the Orb and holds onto it.
Then, the movie cuts to siblings Henry( Sebastian Hansen and Natalie(Emma Myers) who move to the town after their mom died. Henry visits Garret’s store and activates the Orb which starts heading to the portal that goes to the overworld. Natalie was looking for Henry along with Dawn(Danielle Brooks) and they get sucked into the portal.
They eventually find Steve who shows the place off until eventually they need to go to the Woodland Mansion to get something. The Piglins appear and everyone escapes except for Garret who seems to make a last stand holding the Piglins off so they explode with him on the bridge.
They go to back to activate the main portal back to the real world, but the Piglins are there and they have a massive battle. Henry eventually almost dies but Garret saves him
Given the hijinks expected during the “Chicken Jockey” scenes, many theaters have warned audience members to refrain from shenanigans like throwing popcorn buckets or risk being removed from the venue without a refund. Though this prank has been the bane of theater employees, it has increased the popularity of the film given that the movie is far from critically acclaimed.
