From writing my first article sophomore year to becoming Editor-in-Chief, the Royal Courier has been one of the most defining parts of my high school journey. It’s where I found my voice, my confidence, and a second home.
This paper taught me how to lead, how to tell stories that matter, and how to work with heart. To the staff, thank you for the laughs, the class parties, and the endless support. To our readers, thank you for giving our stories purpose. And to the Royal Courier itself, thank you for shaping the person I’ve become.
It’s hard to say goodbye, but I leave with a full heart and memories I’ll carry with me forever. With love always, Kat Garcia, Co-Editor-in-Chief, signing off.
Those daily social media posts that probably started to annoy you, those “take action” stories, and coming up with relatable and interesting story ideas weekly were all events that have made my senior year on the Royal Courier one that I will never forget, especially since I had the pleasure of serving as Co-Editor-in-Chief .
From the second I stepped into my first journalism class my sophomore year as a writer, I knew this was the place for me. Then, moving on to Opinion Editor my junior year, I was able to refine and tune into sharing my voice in a way I had yet to experience. Now, as a senior, I feel this class has allowed me to discover my passions, talents, and goals.
I have always been someone who has strong opinions and feels strongly (sometimes too much) about issues that are personal to me. From my story on Type 1 Diabetes education to the one about the importance of empathy, every story and every word has meant something to me. Knowing that at least one person has read what I have to say, I feel accomplished and proud.
Some stories write themselves, but this one was mine. Thank you for being apart of this journey!
For the last time…

I walked into the Journalism class my junior year, and I am not going to lie. I was horrible at writing. Throughout the past two years I found that I’ve learned how much I loved this class. From the fun conversations about stories we were currently writing, to having a class party for some cool holiday. It has always been interesting, no matter the day. I have never been one to enjoy hearing bad news, but being in this class has expanded my horizons and I quite literally became the News/Feature editor. I cannot thank Ms. Ramirez (Our teacher) enough. She has always been such a delight and she may very well be the reason I passed my English class.
Your Feature and News Editor, Miguel Suarez-Cabal, signing off
Hi readers! Last year, when I transferred to ILS I did not know the impact this class and position would have on me. Every class was filled with joy, entertaining topics, and delicious class parties. I loved every minute of being an editor and writer for the paper. I was able to share topics I cared about with people who cared about me. I hope you continue to show support for your writers and all that they do for the newspaper. You make our stories interesting! It was a pleasure to have this position, I wish the best to the next Opinion and Podcast Editor.
Sincerely, Valentina Lanza
Hey, Royals! It’s Bri, your fave source for all things entertainment. I wanna leave you guys with one last piece of advice: Whether high school felt like a full-on teen movie or something totally different, you’re still going to laugh a lot, make unforgettable memories, and grow into the best possible version of yourself. P.S. Yep, it was me—Lucy, your undercover advice columnist all along! But I won’t spill who I’ll be next. Stay Fierce!
With love always,
Bri (aka Lucy)
