After a busy year for television that included two Emmy Awards ceremonies due to the dual strikes, several highly anticipated series are set to return with new seasons in 2025.
These include Severance on Apple TV+, The White Lotus Season 3, and The Last of Us Season 2, both of which are on Max. Other popular shows such as Squid Games, Wednesday, Ginny and Georgia—–Netflix, and The Summer I Turned Pretty—Amazon Prime, are all coming out with another season this year.
“I am excited for all these shows coming out because I have waited a while,” said sophomore Julie Alemany.
Squid Games Season 3
It’s all part of the larger narrative continuing from the second season, so expect some unresolved storylines to finally be addressed.
Lee Jung-Jae returns as Gi-Hun, alongside others who survived another brutal round of dystopian games in Hwang Dong-hyuk’s gripping saga. With the second and third seasons filmed back-to-back, the big question remains as to how it will all end.
“I am sad that season 3 is the last for Squid Games, but I am still excited,” said sophomore Victoria Volum.
Ginny and Georgia Season 3
In January, Netflix announced that Ginny & Georgia will debut its third season this summer. Following the success of Season 2, which premiered in January 2023, the hit YA series was renewed for two more seasons.
Notably, there’s been a change behind the scenes, with Sarah Glinski stepping in as showrunner, taking over from Debra J. Fisher. The show follows a dynamic mother-daughter relationship reminiscent of Gilmore Girls, but with a darker, edgier twist.
“I want to know what happens in Ginny and Georgia season 3 since the last one ended in a cliffhanger,” said sophomore Eva Dusvitch.
The Summer I Turned Pretty
The highly anticipated third season of Prime Video’s hit young adult series The Summer I Turned Pretty is expected to mark the story’s likely conclusion, arriving sometime in summer 2025.
It will come two years after Season 2 major drama, with Belly Conklin (Lola Tung) ultimately choosing Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) after years of longing for his older brother Conrad (Christopher Briney), ever since she began spending her summers at the Fishers’ home in Cousins Beach.
Wednesday Season 2
While not a lot of details about Season 2 of Netflix’s Wednesday have emerged, the executive producers, Al Gough and Miles Millar, have teased that the upcoming episodes will be “darker and more complex” as the iconic character, played by Jenna Ortega, continues her time at Nevermore Academy in 2025.
Season 1 only briefly touched on her infamous Addams family, but Season 2 is expected to delve deeper into their story. Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones), Gomez (Luis Guzmán), and Pugsley (Isaac Ordoñez) are set to have larger roles, with the show exploring the Addams family history.
This could also pave the way for the return of Uncle Fester (Fred Armisen) and possibly introduce even more eccentric relatives from the Addams lineage
