Music is something most students can’t live without. You hear it in the hallways, during sports, on the bus and even when people are just doing homework. Many students say it really changes the way they feel throughout the school day.
Some students use music to calm down when they feel stressed or nervous. Others say it helps them focus better when they study or get work done.
“Music affects how students feel by helping them focus, calm down, or boost their mood. It’s like a background vibe that makes school feel less stressful,” said sophomore Sean Lui.
“Music can change how you feel really quick, like from sad to happy,” said sophomore Ivanna Penalver.
“Most students listen to music every day because it just makes things better,” said sophomore Matteo Cupello.
Teachers have noticed it, too. Some don’t mind students putting in earbuds while doing assignments because they see it helps with concentration.
“Music helps me block out distractions and focus on what I need to do,” sophomore Sean Lui added.
Sports is another big place where music shows its power. Before games or practice, athletes blast music to get into the right mindset. Some say it gives them energy, while others say it makes them feel confident and ready to play.
Studies show that music affects the brain and emotions, but students don’t really need research to know that. They already see it in their own lives. Some already play calming songs after a long day, while others want loud music because they seek an energy boost.
At ILS, music isn’t just background noise. For many students, it’s a tool that helps them handle stress, focus in class, and get through the ups and downs of school life. Overall, music is something that helps students in different ways and it makes school feel a little easier to handle.
