Lately, it feels like robots are everywhere, and now they’re even taking over Amazon. The company is adding more and more machines to its warehouses, doing jobs that people used to do. Some people think it’s cool, but others are kind of worried about what it means for workers.
According to the New York Post, Amazon plans to replace over 600,000 jobs in the U.S. with robots by 2027. That’s a lot of people who might not have the same jobs anymore. The robots are doing things like packing boxes, sorting items, and moving stuff around the warehouses.
“Robots doing work we used to do? That’s weird. But I guess it makes sense since everything’s getting faster,” said junior Isabella Diaz.
Another student, senior Martina Hoyos, said, “I mean, robots might be good for the company, but if people lose their jobs what happens next?”

Right now, Amazon already has more than one million robots working in warehouses all over the world. They help move boxes and heavy stuff so workers don’t have to. The company says the robots make things faster and help people focus on other jobs that computers can’t do yet.
But some experts say that might not be true for everyone. Many people could lose their jobs if the robots keep taking over. Workers might have to learn new skills or find different kinds of work. Some students say it makes them think about what kind of jobs will even be around in the future.
“It’s cool that robots are smart now, but what about us students who will have to get new skills just to keep up?” junior Maximo Biasutto asked.
As Amazon keeps using more robots, everyone’s wondering if this is really good or bad for people. Maybe robots will make work easier, or maybe they’ll just make it harder for regular workers to find jobs.
