It holds the record for the most viewed English-language Volume 2 (the next three episodes) releases on Christmas Day and then lastly, the season 5 finale will be out in theaters on New Year’s Eve with a run time of about 2 hours and 5 minutes.
The final episode of Stranger Things is being released on theaters because the Duffer Brothers, the producers of the series, wanted to celebrate the conclusion of the show with fans experiencing the finale together in a shared setting while having the experience of watching the episode on a bigger screen with high quality sound.
Initially, the idea was turned down by Netflix’s chief content officer, Bela Bajaria, but then she changed her mind due to fan demand and discussions with the Duffer brothers.
“I have been watching the show for a while and it’s kind of sad for it to end, but I really like the season so far,” said junior Fernanda Martinez.
Season 5 has also seen a noticeable increase in production, with longer episodes and more special effects than earlier seasons. Many viewers have pointed out that the new episodes look more like movie scenes than typical TV episodes. Netflix’s data shows that the season is performing well in many countries, keeping Stranger Things one of the platform’s most-watched shows.
Fans online have been talking about the pacing of the season, how the story is set up, and how the characters are handled, as the show continues to create many discussions each week, which helps keep it trending on social media.
With the final episode heading to theaters, locations across the U.S. are getting ready for large turnouts. Theaters and Netflix are working together on schedules and ticket releases so people everywhere can watch the last episode at the same time when it officially premieres.
