Here’s your Sunday spots report and upcoming sports schedule.
Cheerleading: Both JV and Varsity Cheer competed at the UCA Florida Regional this weekend, delivering strong performances in highly competitive divisions. Each team earned a 4th-place finish, showcasing their hard work, dedication, and growth throughout the season. In addition to their impressive finishes, both squads secured bids to the National Cheerleading Championships at the end of next month.
An outstanding accomplishment for our program congratulations to all our cheerleaders and coaches. Crowns up!
Girls Soccer: The varsity girls soccer team dropped its two games this week but showed strong effort and continued growth as they prepare for a big bounce-back opportunity on Tuesday. The group remains focused and motivated, using the week as a learning experience as they look to turn things in the right direction.
On the JV side, the Royals earned an impressive 4–0 shutout victory over Ransom. Delfina Sanchez led the attack with a hat trick, scoring three goals, while Amira Farah added one to round out the scoring. Sarah Panesso was strong in goal, recording the shutout to secure the win.
Boys Soccer: Boys varsity soccer finished the week 0-1-1, highlighted by an exciting 4–4 tie against Archbishop McCarthy. The team showed great resilience and offensive firepower, battling back throughout the match and competing until the final whistle. In their second contest, the boys came up short in a hard-fought 2–0 loss to Doral, gaining valuable experience against strong competition as they continue to build momentum moving forward.
Girls’ basketball: The ILS girls basketball team finished the week with a 2–1 record, picking up two strong wins before closing the week with a hard-fought loss.
ILS opened the week with a convincing 68–48 victory over Westminster. Frida Acevedo led the way with 20 points and 7 assists, while Isabella Aversa added 14 points and 6 assists. Ana Villarreal delivered a dominant all-around performance with 17 points, 13 rebounds, and 5 assists. Alexandra Gonzalez contributed 12 points and 7 rebounds, and Sophia Gonzalez provided quality minutes off the bench with 3 points and 9 rebounds.
The Royals followed with another impressive performance, defeating Ransom Everglades 67–38. Isabella Aversa recorded a double-double with 11 points, 11 rebounds, and 7 assists. Ana Villarreal added 15 points and 10 rebounds, while Frida Acevedo finished with 14 points, 5 rebounds, and 6 assists. Ainoa Haliwa chipped in 8 points and 4 rebounds, and Alexandra Gonzalez Casar filled the stat sheet with 8 points, 6 rebounds, and 8 steals.
ILS closed the week in a tightly contested matchup, falling to Keys Gate 50–47 in a game that came down to the final possessions.
LaSalle opens the week ranked No. 10 in Class 3A, No. 12 in Miami, and No. 54 in the state of Florida, continuing to establish itself as one of the top programs in the area.
Boys Basketball: Boys Varsity opened the week with a strong home win on Monday, defeating Ransom 59–52. Jayquan Freeman led the way with 16 points and 7 rebounds, while Lucas Piedra added 14 points and 8 rebounds. Michael Libera Tait also made a key contribution, finishing with 13 points and 4 rebounds.
On Wednesday, the team hit the road to face Archbishop Coleman Carroll and battled hard but came up short, falling 63–53. Jayquan Freeman continued his standout play with a double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds, and Lucas Piedra chipped in 13 points to lead the scoring effort.
The week wrapped up on a high note Friday night at home with an impressive 79–67 victory over Keys Gate. Jayquan Freeman paced the offense with 27 points and 9 rebounds, while Lucas Piedra once again delivered a strong performance with 17 points and 8 rebounds.
