With a current record of 6-7-1, the Girls Varsity Soccer team has experienced both highs and lows throughout the season. While the team is coming off a recent 3–0 loss, players have continued to show resilience and determination in both games and practices. The season has tested the group’s ability to stay focused and motivated, especially as they work through challenges and look ahead to their next game on Friday against Coral Shores. As the team moves forward, players are using each match as an opportunity to grow and improve together.
How has the team responded to adversity and used challenges as motivation throughout the season?
Gaby Rodriguez, sophomore center back and defensive standout, anchors the defense with confidence and consistency.
“The team has responded to adversity and challenges by learning from our mistakes and working harder to get better and grow as a team. By facing challenged it helps us to get better and prepare for the next level of play as we advance in our season,” said Gaby.
Sophomore goalkeeper Olivia Rodriguez-Salem has been a commanding presence in the net, consistently making key saves that keep the team competitive. Her leadership and composure give the defense confidence, helping the team stay organized and focused during every game.
“Every game is a chance to show what we’re made of. I focus on staying sharp in goal and supporting my teammates so we can stay strong together, no matter the score,” said Olivia.
Anna Baez, a sophomore in the outfield, is a confident player who helps lead the team with her effort, focus, and determination during every match.
“I try to stay focused and do my best for the team every game. No matter the score, we support each other and keep pushing forward together,” said Anna.
Despite the ups and downs of the year, the Girls Varsity Soccer team has shown that resilience, teamwork, and a positive mindset are just as important as skill on the field. The team has continued to grow, learn from challenges, and stay focused on improving with every game. As they head into their next matchup against Coral Shores January 23, their determination and confidence show that they are ready to face any challenge and give their best on the field.
