ILS Sailing competed at South Points 4 hosted by University of South Florida in St. Petersburg for the fourth ranking division regatta of the Season and the first of 2026. The regatta was hosted by Shorecrest Preparatory, St. Petersburg Yacht Club, and the University of South Florida – and was raced in 420 and FJ (flying junior) sailboats – two-person sailboats requiring skipper and crew.
ILS Sailing fielded a Varsity team – Beck Brill (’27) shared skippering duties with Marina Wardlaw (’27) in varsity A division with Mia Noritake (’29) crewing for races 1-4 and 7-8. Arturo de la Rosa has returned from injured status to crew in races 5-6 in A division. Leonardo Terzani (’27) sailed with Diego de Teran crewing in B division for races 1-4. Gabi Mascarenhas and crew Luis Flores sailed races 5-8 in B division. A and B division’s combined score resulted in ninth place for the regatta – a good showing out of 19 teams.
The Team has three more South Points opportunities to qualify for a berth in the SAISA district championships for the Mallory Trophy (fleet racing). SAISA is one of the stronger sailing divisions in the Country, with SAISA North and Saisa South meeting at Charleston SC April 11-12 to compete for a spot at the National Championships at Christchurch School in Virginia May 15-17.
