Glam4Good is a nonprofit in New York City that turns excess fashion and personal-care products into donated clothing and essentials for people in need, including women and children, through pop-up events and partnerships with major fashion brands.
In the heart of New York, fashion isn’t just about trends, it’s a force for generosity. Glam4Good, a nonprofit founded by former Harper’s Bazaar editor Ms. Mary Alice Stephenson, collects unused clothing and personal-care items from designers, brands, and individuals, and redistributes them to families and individuals who need them most. From pop-up closets in NYC to community partners nationwide, Glam4Good is turning surplus style into hope.
At a recent winter pop-up event in Manhattan, volunteers from local colleges and creative industries helped organize racks of coats, dresses, and accessories for families seeking essentials.
One volunteer shared, “I’ve always loved fashion, but this… this puts it into perspective, your leftover jacket could give someone confidence for an interview.”
This reflects the organization’s core belief: Style can empower lives and build dignity. Glam4Good doesn’t just hand out clothing, it curates it. From school outfits for kids to professional wear for job seekers, every piece is selected to help people feel confident andprepared for life’s next step.
A longtime donor and stylist said on the nonprofit’s blog, “Seeing a mother’s face light up when she finds the perfect coat, that’s worth more than any runway show.”
The organization partners with local shelters and service agencies in NYC to make sure clothing gets to women and children who need it most.
Ms. Mary Alice Stephenson, the founder, explained the mission succinctly: “We believe that fashion should be joyful, not wasteful, and everyone deserves to feel good in what they wear.”
Through Glam4Good’s creative approach, the world of fashion becomes a world of compassion and real impact.
