Last week during F block, students came together for a special event focused on relaxation, wellness, and community. EmpowHer, a yoga event open to all girls at the school, gave students the opportunity to take a break from their busy schedule and spend time focusing on mindfulness. The event was hosted by sophomore students Claudia Marin and Annabel Meathe, who helped create a welcoming space for girls to unwind and connect.
EmpowHer first started last year and quickly became a meaningful tradition for many students. After its success in the first year, Sophomores Claudia and Annabel decided to continued the event again this year, especially fitting since it took place on Wellness Day and was close to International Women’s Day, as well. The goal was to create an environment where girls could relax, move their bodies, and spend time together.
“After a long day of school, it felt good to just unwind, move our bodies, and enjoy the time together,” said sophomore Ivanna Certain.
Students who attended said the event stood out because of its calm and supportive atmosphere. Instead of the usual fast pace of the school day, EmpowHer allowed participants to slow down and focus on wellness while bonding with other girls.
After the yoga session ended, participants were gifted thoughtful extras that made the event even more memorable. Students received goodie bags filed with skincare and self-care items, and many enjoyed Ernie’s açaí bowls while spending time with friends.
“EmpowHer started last year, and Annabel and I wanted to bring it back again. With International Women’s Day recently, it felt like the perfect time to bring everyone together,” said sophomore Claudia Marin.
Overall, EmpowHer created a relaxing and uplifting experience for students while creating long-lasting memories among the girls at school.
