Pop superstar Justin Bieber has lived a very public and complicated career, going from a teenage internet discovery to one of the biggest pop stars in the world while also dealing with major personal and health challenges.

Bieber’s rise started in the late 2000s when he was discovered on YouTube posting cover songs as a kid. He quickly became a global teen sensation with hits like “Baby” and built a massive fanbase known as “Beliebers.” By his late teens, he was already selling out arenas and becoming one of the most recognizable artists on the planet.

Alessandra Alvarez, a senior, said, “He basically went from a regular kid online to a global star almost overnight, which is crazy to think about.”

As he got older, the pressure of fame started to build even more. In his 20s, Bieber faced personal struggles along with serious health issues that forced him to slow down his career. In 2022 he had to cancel part of his world tour after being diagnosed with a condition that caused partial facial paralysis, which became a major turning point in his life.

After that, Bieber stepped back from the spotlight and started focusing more on his health and long term future. One of the biggest decisions he made was selling the rights to his music catalog, which surprised a lot of fans but showed how much he was trying to take control of his life again.

Senior Santiago Arocena said, “At first it sounded surprising, but now it seems like he is just doing what he needs to do for himself.”

That shift in his life made his return to the stage at Coachella this past weekend even more significant. Bieber performed at the 2026 festival, marking one of his biggest appearances in years after stepping away from touring. Reports also say he earned around 10 million dollars, making it one of the highest paid performances in Coachella history.

Junior Camila Andreu said, “It feels different seeing him perform now because you know everything he has been through.”

Even though Bieber did not directly talk about his health on stage, his performance still stood out to many fans. His return felt like more than just a show, but a moment that showed how much his life and career have changed over time, and how he is still finding his way forward in the industry.

WHAT DOES GOOGLE AI SAY ABOUT BIEBER’S HEALTH ISSUES?

Justin Bieber has faced several significant health challenges in recent years, most notably Ramsay Hunt syndrome (type 2) in 2022, which caused partial facial paralysis and forced the cancellation of his Justice World Tour. He has also publicly discussed battling Lyme disease, chronic mononucleosis, and mental health struggles, including past substance abuse.
    • Ramsay Hunt Syndrome (2022–2023): This rare neurological disorder, caused by a virus affecting the facial nerve, resulting in temporary, partial paralysis of the right side of his face. This led to the suspension and eventual cancellation of his world tour.
    • Lyme Disease & Chronic Mono
       (2020):
Bieber revealed he was diagnosed with Lyme disease and a “serious case of chronic mono,” which affected his skin, brain function, energy, and overall health.
  • Mental Health & Substance Abuse: The singer has been open about his past struggles with anxiety, depression, and addiction, noting a time when security checked his pulse at night to ensure he was still alive.
  • Physical Exhaustion (2017/2022): He previously cancelled tour dates in 2017 due to “mental exhaustion.”
