AGL had a fantastic Saturday Laudato Si conference for Earth Week.
We began with an amazing presentation by junior Paul Blanchet, on Sharks, their role in a healthy marine ecosystem, and connections to Laudato Si.
Officer Washington from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission spoke about how his love of South Florida’s ecosystem led him to a career in public service in wildlife management, conservation, and protection. He also imparted to the students the important role they can play as citizens.
Miami Waterkeeper’s very best, Ms. Sofia Bond, delivered an interactive and energetic presentation on how to identify different types of water pollution, and how to report it. Then, she led us all on a hands-on water testing training session, where students took samples from the Bay and measured oxygen and PH levels, and turbidity.
What an incredible way to live out ILS’ commitment to the teachings of Laudato Si and to begin our ILS Earth Day celebrations.
A big shout out to Paul Blanchet, who helped to organize the conference and presented.
Special thanks to Dr. Rebecca Shaw, Ms. Calleros, Mr. G. Fernandez, and Ms. Nicole Maribona, who were all here to lend support.
Thanks to all who participated!
