The Immaculata-La Salle community will come together for its first Catholic Mass of the 2026–2027 school year during the annual Welcome Mass. This special celebration brings the entire school together to begin the new year with faith and prayer while growing closer as one community.
The Welcome Mass is an important tradition at Immaculata-La Salle because it gives students, teachers, and staff the opportunity to pause from their busy school routines and focus on their relationship with God. The Mass will include important parts of the Catholic celebration, such as the Liturgy of the Word and the Liturgy of the Eucharist.
In preparation for the Mass, students are expected to follow specific rules that show respect for the religious celebration. All students must wear their full school uniform, including their school ID. Students are also expected to sit up straight and remain respectful throughout the Mass. Phones, water bottles, gum, and other belongings should not be brought into the celebration.
For many students, Welcome Mass is more than just a school event. It is an opportunity for the entire student body to share the same experience and strengthen the sense of community at ILS.
“I think Welcome Mass is a good way to start the school year because everyone comes together and remembers that our faith is an important part of our school,” said junior Sabrina Lucas.
The celebration also reminds students of the values that make Immaculata-La Salle a Catholic school. While students come from different backgrounds and have different experiences, the Mass allows everyone to gather in one place and reflect on their shared faith.
“It reminds me that we are all part of one community and that we can support each other throughout the year.”
As the new school year begins, Welcome Mass serves as a meaningful moment for students to reflect, pray, and take one step closer to God. It also sets a positive tone for the months ahead by encouraging students to carry their faith and values with them both inside and outside the classroom.
“Starting the year with Mass helps us remember what our school stands for,” said junior Camila Martinez. “I think it brings everyone together and helps us begin the year in a positive way.”
Through prayer, worship, and community, the Welcome Mass will help the Immaculata-La Salle family begin another school year united in faith.
