The ILS baseball team got back to their winning ways on Thursday when they defeated Somerset Academy Silver Palms by the score of 5-3.

Senior Justin Quintana started the game for the Royal Lions. Senior Carlos Herrera also took the mound for ILS during the game. The two pitchers combined to limit Somerset Silver Palms to just three hits over their seven innings of work.

Quintana and Herrera also figured in the team’s offense yesterday. Quintana went 1-for-3 with a triple and an RBI. Herrera also had a big game at the plate. He went 2-for-3 with a double. Junior Elmir Perez hit a clutch double early in the game to get the Lions the lead.

This victory was an important one for the Royal Lions. They had lost two games in a row last week, including a 13-5 loss to Champagnat and a crushing 1-0 loss to Miami High. But against Somerset Silver Palms, the Royal Lions bounced back. Effective pitching and timely hitting lead ILS to the victory.

Next week, the Royal Lions look to continue their winning ways with two games. On Tuesday, the Royal Lions face off against iMater Academy (2-2) at Walker Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7 PM. On Friday, ILS hosts Hialeah Educational Academy (1-6) at Saint Thomas University, with first pitched set for 6:30 PM.
