So many people cherish the memories of Homecoming, but often overlook the time and dedication that both staff and student volunteers put into planning it.
Hundreds of hours are spent turning blank walls and empty hallways into a week of excitement.
“I’m most excited to see all the students with their creative outfits and then wrap it up at the homecoming dance,” said one of the head planners, Activities Director, Mrs. Elizabeth Vuono.
Student Council members have been working endlessly to plan Homecoming week through regular scheduled meetings.
Students have already been planning their outfits. For example, freshman Jackie Soldatini says she will be most creative on Monday, Color Wars day, with her class color, purple.
Another freshmen, Nicoletta Chaskeilberg, says she’s ready to go all out with the school colors for the Homecoming game on Friday.
Their anticipation is a result of the prep team’s hard work, as the student body’s excitement continues to grow with every day leading up to the main events. Although the Homecoming dance serves as a major moment of celebration for the entire school community, orchestrating an event of that scale is a rigorous, time-consuming responsibility for those making it happen.
Mrs. Vuono said, “The Homecoming dance takes place on a three-day weekend and with the unpredictable weather, the ticket sales are tepid.”
Yet, even when logistics get complicated, these leaders continue working hard to ensure the activities go on without any hurdles.
While the student body experiences the magic for a few hours on Friday, a select group put aside their other first quarter responsibilities and week of free time to create it for everyone else. These people aren’t just putting together a celebration but crafting everyone’s favorite high school traditions.
