A new club at Immaculata La-Salle is giving students the chance to learn about Venezuelan culture while also helping others. The Venezuelan Culture & Service Club is a club for everyone, whether you are Venezuelan or just interested in learning more about the culture.

Throughout the school year, members will learn about Venezuelan food, music, traditions, history, and celebrations. The club will also celebrate special Venezuelan holidays, including Christmas and other important traditions. These activities will give ILS students the opportunity to experience Venezuelan culture and learn more about its history.

The club is also focused on giving back. Members will participate in donation drives and service projects that help communities in Venezuela. The club will work with the Global Empowerment Mission, also known as GEM, to support people who need help. Students will have the opportunity to earn service hours by participating in these activities. Service projects will take place one Saturday each month.

Mathias Fernandez, a former ILS student and Venezuelan, said “I wish I had gotten to participate in this club. It looks very fun and since I am Venezuelan it would be cool to learn more about my culture.”

Veronica Palmero, a Venezuelan-born mother says,” I’m really glad there’s a club based on all the Venezuelan traditions and on top of that donating to those in need. I think it’s a great idea.”

Alejandro Féria, a junior at ILS, says, “Even though I’m not Venezuelan, I think it’s cool that there’s a combination of learning and giving.”

The Venezuelan Culture & Service Club is a great and enriching way to meet new people, learn about a different or familiar culture, and make a positive difference. Anyone can join, and students do not need to be Venezuelan. The club hopes to bring people together while celebrating culture and helping communities in need.
