The halls of Immaculata-La Salle High School erupted with unprecedented energy this week as students launched into their annual Homecoming Week festivities. Packed with fiercely competitive events, vibrant costumes, and high-stakes class battles, the school spirit reached a fever pitch heading into the middle of the week.
The excitement kicked off on Monday, October 5th, with the legendary Color Wars competition. Classes dressed up in their designated school colors to compete in spirit challenges during F block. In a historic turn of events, the Class of 2030 pulled off a massive upset: the freshmen won Color Wars, marking the first time in school history that a freshmen class has ever won the event. The surprising victory sent shockwaves through the upperclassmen ranks and set an intense, high-energy tone for the rest of the week.
Junior Alejandro Féria was asked on how he felt on the freshmen wining.
“There’s no way the freshman won. They only did good in like one challenge. It for sure should have been the juniors or seniors,” he said.
On Tuesday, the campus embraced absurdity with Tacky Tuesday. Students traded their usual uniforms for mismatched patterns, neon clashes, oversized glasses, and wild hair. The juniors and seniors especially embraced the chaos, turning out in full force with over-the-top, outrageously tacky ensembles that kept teachers and peers laughing all day long.
Sophmore Mia Jolie was asked on her reactions to all the seniors’ crazy outfits.
“The seniors really went all out this year. Everyone was dressed up super crazy and mismatched. Some even went above and beyond and wore wigs,” she stated.
The momentum carried directly into today’s highly anticipated Theme Day, where each grade level took on a major sporting event. The victorious freshmen brought court-side energy with their March Madness theme, complete with jerseys and bracket decorations in their designated building. The sophomores tackled the gridiron with a high-powered Super Bowl showcase, while the juniors brought global flair to campus with a vibrant World Cup soccer decorations. Lastly, the seniors showcased a Formula One theme which takes them on one last race.
Junior Cedric Busili was questioned on what his favorite building design was.
“My favorite has to be the World Cup building or the Super Bowl building. Both buildings have very nice attention to detail and also have many decorations that will catch your eyes,” he said.
With two days of Homecoming activities remaining, tomorrow is pink day, let’s see who has the pinkest outfits out there!
