Homecoming Week at ILS is always filled with school spirit, but Tacky Tuesday gave students the chance to show it in the funniest and most colorful way possible. Instead of worrying about matching outfits, students came to school wearing bright colors, random accessories, crazy patterns, and combinations that would normally never be worn together.
Walking through campus on Tuesday, it was almost impossible to find two outfits that looked alike. Students mixed jerseys with colorful capes, plaid jackets with bright shorts, oversized sunglasses, tutus, scarves, bows, and other accessories. Some students even layered several different styles into one outfit, making the hallways look completely different from a normal school day.
The best part of Tacky Tuesday was seeing how creative everyone got with the theme. Some outfits were simple, while others looked like students had searched through their entire closets to find the most random pieces possible. The goal was not to look fashionable. In fact, it was the complete opposite. The more colors, patterns, and accessories that clashed, the better.
“I love seeing everyone’s crazy outfits,” said senior Camila Andreu.
For many students, dressing tacky became a competition, with friends comparing outfits, taking pictures together, and laughing at the unexpected combinations they saw around campus all day.
Days like Tacky Tuesday are what make Homecoming Week exciting at ILS. They give students a break from the usual routine and allow everyone to participate in a way that is fun and easy. Even students who did not dress up could still enjoy seeing what their classmates came up with, and watching the school fill with more energy throughout the day.
“Tacky Tuesday makes Homecoming Week more fun,” said senior Federico Rodriguez.
Tacky Tuesday also showed that school spirit does not always have to be serious. Sometimes it can mean wearing a bright cape, a tutu, giant sunglasses, or an outfit that makes absolutely no sense. As Homecoming Week continues, Tacky Tuesday will stand out as a day full of creativity, laughter, and ILS spirit.
