Encounter with Christ, also known as the famous ETC, is a three-day weekend retreat that takes place a few times throughout the school year. The retreat gives students a chance to grow in their faith while spending time with their classmates and making new memories.
Students arrive Friday evening and stay at school throughout the weekend. Students participate in activities such as adoration, group sharing, and other events. Students also sleep in classrooms, making the weekend a different experience from their usual school days. ETC is also an amazing opportunity to connect with others, make new friends, and share meaningful moments together.
“My favorite part of ETC is the girl talk and all the fun events that happen,” said senior Emma Gonzalez.
The ETC that was scheduled for Sept. 25 through Sept. 27 was postponed because there were not enough students signed up. The next retreat will take place from Nov. 13 through Nov. 15.
“More people need to sign up. It is a great opportunity to grow in faith, make amazing memories with friends, and cry tears of joy. God has immaculate timing and faith. God knows why this ETC was postponed. Next ETC in November is gonna be better,” said senior Nicholas De Izaguirre.
Students can also sign up to be leaders for ETC. Leaders are expected to have humility, maturity, commitment, and enthusiasm. They help guide students during the retreat and can continue to lead future ETCs. Participating in an ETC is an amazing way to feel more connected to the school community and understand their faith.
“ETCs provide the opportunity for students to meet others and gain fun experiences, and feel more at home. It also gives them insight on how relevant their faith is in every day life,” said Sr. Juliana Alfonso, FMA.
With the next ETC coming up in November, students have another chance to sign up and take part in a weekend focused on faith, friendship, and new experiences. The retreat gives students the opportunity to meet new people, spend time with their classmates, and strengthen their relationship with Christ. Whether they attend as participants or choose to become leaders, ETC allows students to step outside of their comfort zone and create meaningful moments that will stick with them forever.
