Every year, seniors at Immaculata-La Salle High School look forward to one of the most exciting traditions of their final year: painting their parking spots. This tradition allows eligible seniors to decorate their assigned spaces with creative designs that represent their personalities, interests, and memories. However, this year’s painting process faced some unexpected delays due to rainy weather in Miami.

The senior parking spot tradition has become a special part of the senior experience at ILS. Students are given the opportunity to personalize their parking spaces with different colors, patterns, and designs. From favorite quotes to colorful artwork, each parking spot gives students a chance to express themselves and make their final year more memorable.

Although many seniors look forward to participating, not every student is automatically allowed to paint a parking spot. Students must meet certain eligibility requirements before being selected to participate in the tradition.
This year, rainy weather caused the painting schedule to be pushed back, leaving some seniors waiting longer than expected to complete their designs. Since painting requires dry conditions, the weather made it difficult for students to finish their parking spots as originally planned.
Here are some of the many designs seniors came up with:

Despite the delays, students remained excited about participating in the tradition and creating something special for their senior year.
“Painting our parking spots is something we’ve been looking forward to since freshman year. Even though the rain delayed everything, it was still such a fun experience,” said senior Caro Castillo.
For many seniors, painting their parking spots is about more than just decorating a space. It is an opportunity to spend time with friends, be creative, and celebrate their final year of high school.

The tradition also brings students together as they help each other paint, share ideas, and admire everyone’s different designs.
“The rain was definitely annoying because we had to wait longer, but it was worth it. It’s one of those senior traditions that makes our last year special,” said senior Danielle Ramirez.
“My favorite part was being able to paint with my friends and make memories together. It’s something I’ll always remember from senior year,” said senior Martina Welch.
Now that the painting has been completed, seniors can enjoy seeing their personalized parking spots every day when they arrive at school. Each finished design reflects the creativity and effort students put into making the tradition their own.
Although the rain delayed the process, the seniors were still able to complete their parking spots and enjoy an experience that has become a memorable part of their final year at ILS.
