Hello, ILS
Here’s your sports report and sports schedule.
Golf: The Royals wrapped up their season in strong fashion with wins vs Gulliver and Doral Academy. The boys and girls’ teams finished with the most team and individual wins in school history for golf. They now shift their focus to the FHSAA District Tournaments next week at Redland and Miami Springs Golf courses.
The boys team defeated Gulliver and were led by senior Rodrigo De Lamo who finished first overall with a score of 39. Connor Heilemann shot 40 and Federico Gil shot 41 to help secure the win by one stroke.
The girls team defeated Gulliver and were led by senior Sophia Estrada who shot her season best 39 to finish first overall . Sofia Olarte shot 41 and Ximena Sahagun shot 43 to help the Lady Royals to victory.
On senior day, the boys team defeated Doral Academy and were led by sophomore Quentin Blanchet who shot 39 to finish first overall. Rodrigo De Lamo shot 40 to finish in second place overall. Connor Heilemann’s 42 and Federico Terzani’s 43 helped lead the team to another win to finish out the regular season.
The girls were led by freshmen Ella Doreste and Ximena Sahagun who each shot 41 to tie for fourth place.
Districts for the boys takes place Monday, October 26 at Redland Country Club and girls on Tuesday, October 27 at Miami Springs Country Club.
Thank you to all the seniors for their hard work and dedication in making this a great year.
Football: The Royals close out the regular season in dominant fashion, defeating Monsignor Pace 41-9 to secure back-to-back undefeated regular seasons!
The defense was relentless, coming away with FOUR interceptions, including a pick-six by freshman Samonte Blucher!
With another perfect regular season in the books, the Royals have a strong chance to earn the #1 seed once again, depending on the final rankings of Miami Killian.
The Royals now look ahead to the postseason, with an opportunity to host their first playoff game on November 20 in a semifinal showdown following a quarterfinal bye!
An incredible accomplishment for a program that continues to raise the standard. The regular season is complete, but the mission is far from over
