Marian Club Visits Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe
May 18, 2021
The ILS Marian Club received special permission last week to go on the first ILS field trip in more than a year. The Marian Club visited the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Doral as part of a pilgrimage to be united with Pope Francis, who asked Catholics to pray the rosary everyday during May for an end to the pandemic.
For this pilgrimage Sister Marie Fe Tansioco and the other club members selected a Marian shrine, one dedicated to Our Lady of Guadalupe.
“Many students have a great devotion to her, especially since many are from Central and South America,” said Sister Marie Fe of their decision to visit the shrine. “It’s beautiful to see that love for Mary around here at ILS.”
The group, which also included ILS science teacher Mrs. Sanatana, ILS English teacher Mrs. Roman-Gonzlaez and five ILS students, prayed the rosary together while walking down the path of the Virgin Marys around the world. They visited the beautiful church then had some time for adoration and reflection.
One of the field trip participants, sophomore Angelina Cabrera, described the trip as “so much fun!” She said the group connected over lunch, eating picnic-style outside of the shrine itself. Cabrera particularly enjoyed the walk through the path of Virgin Marys from around the world. She was grateful to be part of this trip.
“The Marian club pilgrimage is something that we’ve been wanting to do since the beginning,” Cabrera said. “The main reason why Marian club was created was because we wanted to show people the greatness and love that our Virgin Mary has for us. Marian club has always been there for me and much more.”
Marian Club is a faith-sharing club, with various activities, including the Diaper Drive and monthly school rosaries. They, as some many do, look to Mary as a Mother and guide. They’ve hosted, with Campus Ministry, monthly rosaries for the school.
Sister Marie Fe says anyone interested in joining the Marian Club can connected via Showbie, using the code 5Y8G9. Although the club is winding down now as the school year nears its end, they plan on getting right back to things next year.
