The ILS Football team is back and at it again with a win on their first game of the season and planning an ultimate comeback from last year’s Belen game this week.

So far the boys have played two games: a pre-season against St. John Neuman, and their first official game against Coral Springs Charter.

Versus the Celtics, the boys won 39-0, and also dominated the field against the Panthers, winning 50-0. They’re currently 1-0 for the season and plan to continue their winning streak this week.

Last year, the boys went against Belen Jesuit for homecoming and faced a complete upset in the last 60 seconds in what the announcers called a “Don Bosco Miracle” for the other team. Now the boys are back and ready to redeem themselves this Friday.

“Miracles don’t happen twice,” said senior Luis Bodden regarding the upcoming game.

They’ve been working hard all summer and have been preparing after school to make this season the best they can.

“Over the years we’ve gotten more skillful players; I feel comfortable and good about the players we have this year,” said senior Vashaud Williams.

Indeed, the team has improved over the past three years.

“So far I love the way we’re playing because we have chemistry that is off the charts; we have created a brotherhood that can’t be broken and it shows on and off the field,” said senior player, Gabriel Benitez.

Remember to support your fellow Royal Lions versus Belen with a start time of 7 PM and wear black. The theme is black out and this is a game you won’t want to miss.
