ILS Football Stays On Their Throne

ILS Varsity Football has continued their winning streak by securing two more consecutive wins against their rivals, Belen Jesuit Preparatory School, on September 3rd and at their Kick Off home against against Immokalee High School.
At the black out away game, the boys finally beat their rivals with a final score 8-7.
Throughout the whole game, ILS fans truly showed their support. They came ready to cheer and conquer the blue and gold using the slogan “Beat Belen” throughout the week.
When the boys really needed that extra push, fans truly hyped them up shouting “I believe that we will win” (which they did).
Meanwhile, this year’s Kick Off game was an absolute blow out. The boys won against Immokalee with a final score of 47-6.
When asked about this newfound success, Senior Offensive Lineman, Carlos Gomez said, “The thing that changed was the dedication that each of us had and specifically for the seniors we want to leave a tradition for the younger guys.”
Sophomore, Stetsen Angelo had 11 attempts and 17 completions along with 172 pass yards and 3 touchdowns. Sophomore, Elijah Henton had 6 receptions, 55 receiving yards, and 1 touchdown. Senior, Jude Servius completed a total of 5 carries, 51 rush yards, and 1 touchdown.
Sophomore, La’Varius Stanford was a star player, being the defensive player of the game along with completing 2 interceptions and 2 touchdowns. In general, the La Salle defense was strong with only 93 yards of offense allowed in total.
This Friday the boys face off against Everglades Prep. for their second home game of the season. Remember to come show your support in camouflage and war paint because the theme is hunting in the Everglades!
The following week the boys have another home game on Thursday, September 23rd against St. Brendan with the theme glow party. It’s ensured to be a big game so come out and go wild for the Royal Lions in the jungle.
