Is Hawkeye Worth the Watch?
December 14, 2021
If you’ve been a Marvel fan for a bit, then chances are that you’ve heard of the hero Hawkeye. He’s not one of the most famous Avengers, and he’s even disliked/blamed by many for Black Widow’s death. However, if you don’t know who Hawkeye is, let me explain his character to you. His real name is Clint Barton and his “superpower” isn’t any special mutation. His weapon of choice is a bow and arrow, a tool that doesn’t give him any powers, but the arrows themselves are special. He’s been trained in martial arts, acrobats, and because of his hearing impairment, he has a heightened sense of his surroundings.
Aside from his “superhero” life, he has a wife and children whom he would do anything for. This loving family, however, is taking a break from the big screens and being featured in the brand new show, Hawkeye, alongside Hailee Steinfield, who plays Kate Bishop.
As a girl, Kate was saved by Hawkeye during the fight that took place in Avengers. Because of this incident, she felt inspired by him and trained endlessly with a bow and arrow, never stopping until she was better than everyone around her. As she got older, she developed a knack for causing trouble, especially with her mother’s new boyfriend whom she doesn’t trust.
Things go wrong very quickly, but I will save you the details (as to not spoil the surprise). Let’s just say everything goes from 0 to 100 just because of a piece of clothing.
In the beginning, I wasn’t too excited for the show because, to be honest, I was one of the fans who blamed Hawkeye for Black Widow’s death, and am still a little annoyed over it. But I said “hey, why not?” and gave the show a chance.
It plays out more like a movie than the other Marvel shows that have premiered, featuring intense action scenes from the very start. I greatly enjoyed these because they had my heart racing, hoping that everything would turn out alright.
Aside from the action, Kate’s witty and humorous personality was very entertaining to witness, and it made me like her as soon as she cracked her first joke.
Hawkeye himself is an interesting character to watch, because he hasn’t had all that much screen time in the Marvel universe and it was a bit strange to see him have more than three lines. Nevertheless, I loved seeing how much he cares about his family and how he’ll do anything to protect them.
Then, lastly, the show’s introduction of new characters has me extremely excited for what’s to come. I won’t give any spoilers, but the characters that are joining this phase of the MCU are sure to make things interesting.
If you’re willing to give Clint Barton a second chance after Endgame, then go check out Hawkeye and join in on the excitement for the new phase of the MCU!
