The ILS Football team recently ended their season, going undefeated for 10 straight games and making it to play-offs for the first time in decades.

“Although we lost, we left a legacy and a record of a 10-0 season with the best coach,” said Senior Carlos Gomez.

On the 7th of December, the senior boys celebrated the end of an era by donning their ILS lettermen jackets. Although they were ordered beforehand, they received their jackets at the end, making all their hard work that much more meaningful.

The ILS Cheer seniors, Bianca Bartolomei and Ivana Major, also received their letterman jackets.

Head Coach Helder Valle was also recently announced as the FHSAA Coach of the Year, a well deserved title.

“Coach Helder always pushes us to be the best that we can be and that’s why we would work harder so he can get what he would deserve, which was the coach of the year,” said Gomez.

Valle came to the Jungle in 2018, starting his career at ILS with the current seniors. Since he started working here, the team has greatly improved starting with not being known for winning to becoming the stars of the high school.

Owing to their success, the Royal Lions have been gaining immense attention. The crowds at the games quickly increased and the student body was hungry to see what the boys were gonna do next.

Congratulations to Coach Helder and the team for an incredible season. The editors and staff of the Royal Courier can’t wait to see what they do next.
