Generations of children have grown up loving the Harry Potter series, whether by screen or page.

This year is the film franchise’s 20th anniversary, which has caused HBO Max to create a reunion special. The special features main actors Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter), Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley), and Emma Watson (Hermione Granger) along with others like Jason Isaacs (Lucius Malfoy), Gary Oldman (Sirius Black), Helena Bottom Carter (Bellatrix Lestrange), and more.

The special is a reflection back on the films and the special bonds created by cast mates; an ode to childhood. Seeing the actors reunite is definitely an incredible sight for fans since they all haven’t been together since the last movie truly.

Watchers get to learn more behind the scenes information about the actors and their lives at the time of filming. As a viewer, you get to learn about the filming more intimately than ever before through sit down interviews with both actors and directors who explain the thought and filming process in a different light.

While looking back on good times, the creators also take time to honor the actors a part of the franchise who are no longer with us through memories and scenes in the films.

All in all, the reunion is a feel good documentary on Harry Potter that will leave a lasting impression of nostalgia and growing up. Watching this definitely made me want to rewatch all of the films and reread all of the books.

What’s next in the franchise, you ask? Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore is set to be released April of this year and there is a supposed tv series in the works with HBO Max. For now though, you can relive all the magic by watching the 8 part film series plus Harry Potter: Hogwarts Tournament of Houses on HBO Max.
