Hey Besties!

Welcome back to your New Year guide to fitness and health where I will offer tips, ideas, and the steps to get into fitness and health.

Now that you’ve got your uniform checked off the list of measures to getting that healthy/fit life, the next step is what exercise you can do.

There are many types of exercise you can do including running, walking, sports, strength training, weights, and yoga.

Below are 4 of the many types of exercise/workouts you can do to get fit this year:

The 3/12/30 Workout:
This workout is perfect for people who aren’t used to fast cardio and want to work out their whole body. You feel this exercise mostly in your legs, especially with the incline because it’s building muscle. This workout is simple, quick, and a sustainable way to stay in shape.
-have a treadmill
-put the speed button on 3.0
-put the incline at 12
-walk for 30 minutes
-have music and headphones! (Optional)

This workout trended for a while on TikTok because of how many good results people got from it. (https://www.bustle.com/wellness/12-3-30-workout-tiktok-trend)

Now, it may sound easy, and it may be. But for some, it may not. Remember that everything takes practice, so if this is hard at first, or too intense, you can take breaks throughout the workout, or start at a 7 incline instead of 12 and go up from there. The more you do this workout, the easier it gets. Consistency is key. Just 30 minutes of your day can make a big difference.

Workout Videos

Workout videos are great for strengthening and growing muscle. They are most effective after doing some type of cardio. If you’re like me and don’t like running, here is a great warmup before these types of workouts:
30 jumping jacks
30 mountain climbers
30 jump ropes (you don’t actually need jump ropes, you can just do the motion of it) Do this 2x
After doing the warmup, you can do your resistance training workouts. Here are my top picks for videos that I find very effective:

These are short yet challenging. Building resistance can help with that. (YouTube )

10,000 steps

This sounds like a lot, but in fact, is not as hard as it sounds. Walking 10k steps a day can make you stay healthy, stronger, and have more energy. All you need is some headphones and your favorite playlist, and just go on a walk. If you can’t get to 10k steps everyday, that’s okay. Start at a lower goal, and keep doing it everyday til you can do it. Trust me, if you stay consistent, it will start to feel like an everyday routine. (Remember to take rest days)!

Bike riding
Bike riding is a fun and effective exercise. It is great for strengthening your whole body. Doing it 30 minutes a day is a workout you definitely should try out!

Now that you have some workout ideas, here are some essentials and equipment for at-home workouts:

Weights
Weights are great for working out at home.

Having small weights like these are perfect for at- home workouts. (Target )

Workout Mat
A essential to your at-home workouts, these are used for not just working out, but can be used for stretching and yoga.

You can take your mat outside or indoors, whichever you prefer. (Target )

Water bottle
Of course, a crucial item for staying healthy by making sure to drink lots of water, so having a durable, good quality water bottle is definitely a must.

Hydro flask bottles are great quality! (Hydroflask.com)

Resistance bands
Resistance bands are great for leg workouts and can be used at different levels including light, medium, and heavy, which makes them convenient for any type of resistance.

These look like really good quality bands and they are super pretty in pastel colors! (my.lovesweatfitness.com)

Energy drinks
There are many types of energy drinks and powders you can have to give you energy to have a great workout, but my personal favorite is Celsius drinks. They are pretty tasty and have a refreshing, bubbly flavor.

There’s so many flavors to choose from, so it’s likely to find a flavor you’ll enjoy! (https://www.uscoffeeathome.com/products/celsius-sparkling-energy-water-12-12oz-per-case)

That’s all the workouts and tips if I have for you in this section of your new year fitness and health guide.

Next time, I’ll be going over how to have a healthy diet and eating better. Remember, things take time, so don’t rush your journey. Just don’t give up, even if you feel unmotivated. Remember your goal, and start again.

Till next time besties!
