ILS Welcomes Mr. Cruz, New Math Teacher.
October 4, 2019
Immaculata-La Salle High School hired several new teachers for the 2019-2020 school year. One of these great people is Mr. Eugene Cruz, who teaches algebra 2 and geometry.
Mr. Cruz is an alumni of La Salle and is very glad to be back at his alma mater to teach.
“I graduated from ILS in 2005, and had such a positive experience that I was excited about the opportunity to come back to teach. I am very proud to be a La Salle graduate,” said Cruz. “I feel blessed to be here.”
Although he’s been a teacher for nine years, adjusting to a new school environment can still be a bit of a struggle. Luckily, he’s been able to get lots of support from the long time faculty members.
“I reach out to other teachers and people here at La Salle everyday, usually multiple times a day, and they help me with everything,” said Cruz. “They are an invaluable resource that I use and count on.”
Mr. Cruz is extremely passionate about his job, and enjoys teaching math because he loves learning and serving others. He believes that education plays a critical role in society and is glad to be apart of it.
Aside from teaching in the classroom and spending time with his colleagues and students, whom he respects and admires greatly, his favorite part about La Salle is its Salesian way of forming its students.
“What distinguishes a La Salle graduate is that they were formed with Reason, Religion, and Loving-Kindness. It is something instilled into each student that passes through, and it is also something is brought out of you due to the environment that exists on campus,” said Cruz.
Mr. Cruz is Cuban and Dominican, which helps him to fit in perfectly with the Hispanic culture at ILS.
He is excited to be part of the ILS family once again, this time as a teacher, and he’s ready to continue working hard to help his students achieve their fullest potential in and out of the classroom.
