Introducing the New Girl Scout Cookie of 2022
January 31, 2022
Girl Scout Cookies are one of America’s most beloved snacks. As soon as the season begins and the tables are put out in front of Publix, it’s every man for himself as people fight for their favorite cookies.
It’s a beautiful time of the year because not only do we get to support Girl Scout troops, we also get to enjoy the delicacy that is the boxes of cookies.
“Girl Scout cookie season is my favorite part of the year. I think it’s so fun to go to the tables and pick out as many boxes as I want. But I’ll usually stick to my favorites, Thin Mints,” said Sophomore Mariam Osman.
The cookies come in various flavors. There are the more popular ones, such as Thin Mints and Samoas, and then there are the many other flavors, such as Tagalongs, Do-Si-Dos, and Trefoils. (shortbread).
However, a new competitor is being thrown into the mix this year.
Adventurefuls were announced as the brand-new cookie of 2022. They’re mini brownie bites with a creamy caramel center, a drizzle of chocolate, and a sprinkle of sea salt.
This new treat adds a variety into the mix of cookies, straying from the usual cookie batter and instead taking on the form of a brownie. Many are excited to try it, such as sophomore Danna Chalela. “I can’t wait to try this new cookie. I think it’ll be a lot better than most of them, especially Thin Mints. Honestly, anything is better than Thin Mints in my opinion,” strongly stated Chalela.
To keep up with the wants of their fans and correctly follow COVID policies, the Girl Scouts will be selling cookies both in person and virtually.
On the main Girl Scouts website, instructions are available for how to get the cookies. You can search for booth locations near you, buy online (in some areas), and download apps that not only help you get cookies, but also support young entrepreneurs in your community.
In addition, online delivery platforms like Doordash will be teaming up with the Girl Scouts and offering their services. You can now go into the app and search up “Girl Scouts” to find local troops.
Catalina Lujan, a senior at ILS, believes that, “These new ways of buying cookies are going to be super useful to everyone. It can help people who aren’t entirely comfortable with being in public yet, and those who just want to stay in bed, but still would like to support the Scouts.”
So, if you’re hoping to get your hands on the new flavor, or your classic favorites, go to girlscouts.com and find a local troop near you!
