In recent years the number of actors, models and influencers who have emerged with their own wellness brands is vast. For decades, celebrities have always been spokespeople for wellness companies. But in recent years, they have turned into the company founders and major investors. Celebrities have become obsessed with the idea that consumers need another beauty brand. The wellness industry has turned into two big categories: Big Media and Big Tech.

Celebrities debut wellness brands that range from skin care lines to lifestyle companies to beauty lines. For example, in recent weeks, actor Brad Pitt, launched a skincare brand called Le Domaine. The actor, who is in his wellness phase, also a “science-meets-nature” brand.

Several celebrity brands have been very successful in the wellness industry. For example Fenty Beauty, which was launched in 2017 by Rihanna is now worth 2.8 billions dollars. Rihanna was able to change the beauty industry by creating a brand that is inclusive for everyone, affordable, accessible.

Another celebrity who has changed the idea of lifestyle- wellness companies is founder of Goop, Gwyneth Paltrow. Her lifestyle company has made the obsession with supplements, exercise and clean, green everything popular. When asked about how to have a successful brand, “We have to do what we know is right and we have to take the risk, and that’s how you make a business that’s impactful, and that’s going to stand out from other businesses,” she said. “The best businesses take risks.”

But not all companies have been successful. The Kardashians launched a  makeup brand in 2012 called Khroma Beauty with all three sisters. The company did not last long and closed in 2013 due to lack of captivating fans and multiple lawsuits.

As the wellness industry expands everyday, celebrity wellness brands will continue to emerge.
