To get more involved in the teachers and students lives at Immaculata-La Salle, I went around and asked students and teachers what pets they have and a little about them.

Gaby Pinate, a sophomore here at ILS and also a writer for the Royal Courier told me a little about her golden retriever Kaiser, who is nine-years-old. Interested in the ‘Kaiser’, Gaby told me that it is a family name and which was also the previous name of their late husky. Gaby’s dad and brother surprised Gaby one day.

“I was clueless we were getting a dog.” She also added, “he is my best friend.”

Pier Roca, senior at ILS, and also part of the Varsity Soccer team and President of the class of 2023, shared with me a little about his five-year-old Peekapoo, Chocolate. The Rocas got Chocolate in 2017 as a birthday present for his little sister. They named him Chocolate because he is a white Peekapoo and thought it was ironic and funny. He called Chocolate, “a man’s best friend.”

Miriam Gonzalez, a senior at ILS and captain of the Softball team, told me about her cat Hades who is three-years- old. Miriam got Hades during quarantine when we were all feeling lonely and when the rate of adopting animals went up. “He is the nicest and most cuddly cat ever,” she said.

Kat Garcia, sophomore at ILS and writer of the Royal Courier, has a Lilac French Bulldog named Ginger.

“I always knew I wanted to name my first dog Ginger,” she said.

Kat’s uncle’s first French bulldog was rescued from the back of a car. After it died, they got Ginger.

“She always  keeps us company,” she added.

Ms. Juliette Joseph, a first year history teacher here at ILS, has a yellow headed Amazon parrot named Papito who is ten-years-old. Ms. Joseph got Papito when she worked  at another school and they needed to get rid of it, so she adopted him. Papito can speak when he wants.

“I love talking to Papito”, she said.
