Jeremy Scott Departs from Moschino
March 24, 2023
After over a decade, Jeremy Scott, the American fashion designer, has stepped down as creative director of Moschino, the luxury Italian fashion house. A statement was released from the brand on Monday. Jeremy Scott also has his own label and is the sole owner of his brand.
“These past ten years at Moschino have been a wonderful celebration of creativity and imagination,” Scott said in the news release. “I am so proud of the legacy I am leaving behind.”
During Scott’s time at Moschino, he was known for his theatrical, over-the-top, playful looks presented on the runway. From Barbie, to McDonalds, aliens and babies, Jeremy Scott has shown us everything on the runway. Scott has been Moschino’s third designer to lead, carrying on the legacy after the founder, Franco Moschino who created the brand in 1983, with the same playful, ironic collections and runways as well. After Franco’s death in 1994, Rossella Jardini led the house for two decades, transforming the brand into a major fashion house, including dressing pop icons like Lady Gaga and Madonna. Scott later took over the brand in 2013.
Scott’s first debut collection for Moschino in 2014 focused on American consumerism, with the collection weaving the branding of Heresy, Budweiser, Spongebob and McDonalds, displayed on the clothing. Throughout his time at the luxury house, Scott reimagined Mosschino accessories into everyday items that are branded, from spray bottle phone cases to Happy Meal handbags.
His final show for Moschino was presented last month in February during Milan Fashion Week. The collection presented was more subdued than other shows, with skirt suits, knits, mohawks and chunky gold jewelry.
He also has dressed many A-list celebrities such as Katy Perry, Cardi B, and Megan Thee Stallion. He has famously dressed Katy Perry for her 2015 Super Bowl Performance and her 2019 chandelier Met Gala look.
